Double Up Bucks Back at the Market!

In Spring of 2020, the Freight House Farmers Market was certified to accept SNAP/EBT benefits. This allows us to scan benefit cards and issue tokens which can be used throughout the market. Along with the SNAP benefits comes Double Up Bucks which is a state sponsored program used to promote more fruits and vegetables into the diets of Iowan families.

This partnership was in the works prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, but has served our community and vendors well as we see more and more families taking part in these programs to provide for their families. We have welcomed almost 400 new families and redeemed over $30,000 in tokens and corresponding Double Up Bucks throughout our vendors.

A new grant has been processed and the Double Up Bucks are back at the Freight House Farmers Market. The new program renews quarterly so you must use your Double Up Bucks within the specified time frames. We can issue you DUB once each day. So come down to the Freight House and present your card to the Information and EBT booth. They can issue tokens which can be used for meat, bread, cheese, milk, etc and you will be given up to ten Double Up Bucks which can be used for fruits and vegetables. Double Up Bucks can also be used for seed packs which are available now and plants available this spring.

The Freight House Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8-2 and Sundays from 10-2.

We look forward to seeing you!
